Can plan collection days?
A: Our drivers collect EVERY Public Holiday, except Christmas Day, New Years Day and Good Friday. If your collection falls on any of these days you will be notified in advance of the alternative day.
How do I dispose of a microwave NZ?
Local councils in New Zealand will not allow you to dispose of household appliances in your curbside rubbish or recycling bins. It is recommended you include it in your inorganic collection, donate it to a community op shop, or recycle it via an e-waste recycler such as Computer Recycling Ltd.
Why are capped landfills an issue?
Depending on waste type and volume, landfills take many years to reach maximum capacity. Then a landfill is capped with a final layer of cover material, clay and vegetation. This cap layer forms a barrier, keeping odours in and rainwater out.
Does general waste include food?
Your general waste bin is your bin in which you will dispose of the majority of your household/industry rubbish. Most often, this is the way in which we dispose of food waste or leftovers. However, there are some items that cannot be disposed of in this manner – many of which you may be unaware of.

What do they burn off at the landfill?
Landfill gas contains many different gases. Methane and carbon dioxide make up 90 to 98% of landfill gas. The remaining 2 to 10% includes nitrogen, oxygen, ammonia, sulfides, hydrogen and various other gases.
