Unfortunately in 1906 the mills and shipbuilding business they owned fell into decline and Broomhall Castle was sold to an Italian Riding School who owned it for approximately 4 Years. In 1910 Broomhall Castle was turned into Clifford Park Boys Prep School with 10 boarders and the school flourished until 1941.
