Introduced in 2015, Boost spacing is generally referred to as follows: 148mm rear hub spacing with a 12mm rear axle, 110mm front hub spacing with a 15mm front axle, and a chainring/chainline of 52mm as measured from the center of the bottom bracket shell.

Is thru axle better than quick release?
With a thicker axle bolted directly onto the bike, strength and stability are greatly improved. The end result is a stiffer front end and the elimination of brake rub. Plus, by adding a camming mechanism (like the QR lever) you can still remove your wheel quickly. Thru axles are safer and improve bike performance.
Can a boost Hub be converted to non boost?
None. A Boost frame requires a Boost hub, and unlike the move from 135mm quick release to 142×12 the actual hub has widened meaning that it’s not possible to run a Boost frame without Boost wheels, or to run Boost wheels in a non-Boost frame.
Do Roval boost adapters work with DT Swiss wheels?
