Hard Wax Oil is a blend of premium quality tung oil and carnauba wax to give superior protection to interior wooden flooring and furniture. Providing a long-lasting, smooth and low-odour finish, Hard Wax Oil can be applied to bare wood or previously oiled wood, and is safe for use on toys.

Can you sand hard wax oil?

For that reason it requires a fairly open grain to accept the oil and whilst being applied it is necessary to work the product into the wood. If you want to use any oil on your floor, but especially a wax oil it is recommended to sand the floor with a 150 grit sandpaper or coarser.

Do you sand between coats of Osmo oil?

Sanding is not necessary between coats. However, de-nibbing with a pad may help to reduce any imperfections from the surface between each coat.

How long before you can walk on Osmo oil?

As soon as the Polyx®-Oil has dried after application of two coats, the floor can be used immediately with light traffic. However, the finish takes approx. 10-14 days to complete the curing process.

Can you use hard wax oil outside?

Is one coat of Osmo oil enough?

For roller or brush applications; a maximum of two coats is recommended. Our finishes are designed to penetrate into the wood, application of a third coat is unlikely to absorb. For cloth applications; three or four coats is recommended.

What is Osmo Hardwax oil?

Osmo Hardwax Oil produces a surface which will not watermark or stain like a traditional oil finish. It’s also very easy to clean – just sweep, vacuum or damp mop.

Can Osmo POLYX oil be tinted?

Osmo Polyx Oil is an extremely versatile hardwax oil and forms part of the Osmo oil range of products. Osmo Polyx Oil Clear can be tinted with colours from the Osmo Oil Stain range, up to a maximum of 10%, i.e. 250ml of Osmo Oil Stain mixed with a 2.5Ltrs of clear Polyx Oil. Special care and attention must be taken when measuring and mixing.

What are the negatives of Hardwax oil?

Other negatives are that it costs way more than the other better hardwax oils and it only comes in 7 colors. On the positive it has no VOC’s, but so does Rubio Monocoat that we recommend, so that’s not really a unique plus. Sorry BonaKemi, but you have a looong way to go before you catch up to Rubio Monocoat and OSMO Oil.
