Can pewter be repaired?
Pewter is a soft metal that is relatively easily damaged. According to the Worshipful Company of Pewterers, modern pewter is lead-free and contains between 91 and 95 percent tin. While old and antique pewter items are notoriously difficult to repair, modern pieces can be repaired using pewter solder.
How do I fix a dent in my pewter?
Before attempting to iron out a dent, clean the piece and submerge it in hot water for several minutes. Then dry the piece and hold it firmly while rubbing or ironing out the dent with your thumb. Take your time and move the metal slowly, as it is very pliant. Give it a good polish and you’ll be good as new!
Is it safe to drink from a pewter tankard?

Pewter can be welded or soldered; I always weld the initial joint of a cylinder. A welded joint is stronger than a soldered seam and will be the same color as the pewter since we use scrap pewter cutoffs to make our welding rod.
