Are ATR 72 planes safe?
The ATR 72 has a perfectly fine safety record compared to other planes of its type. There were some high profile icing incidents in the mid-90’s that led to some design changes that have alleviated but not completed solved these issues – de-icing is a focus area in pilot training for the type.
