How do you get Mitacs funding?
HOW IT WORKS
- The match. A student, a supervising professor, and a partner organization develop a research project.
- The proposal. Applicants submit a proposal via a Mitacs representative.
- The project. Projects receive $15,000 in funding for each four-month internship.
How much is a stipend at Mitacs?
Each approved award recipient will receive $6,000 from Mitacs. The award will support the student’s travel and accommodation costs, based on a 12-week research internship. Mitacs funding is provided in lieu of the monthly stipend and international travel subsidy from the DAAD.
Who can apply for Mitacs?
Applicants must:
- Be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.
- Be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or combined undergraduate/master’s program at an eligible institution (see list of eligible institutions by country)
- Have one to three semesters remaining in their program as of Fall 2022.
What is a Mitacs grant?
Receive up to $15,000 in Grant Funding. Mitacs Accelerate pairs businesses with Masters, PhD, and PDF interns to overcome innovation challenges. Interns complete research and develop tools, models, technology, or solutions to support the host business’ challenges.
Are Mitacs internships paid?
The students applying for MITACS GRI should also have their passports ready and if they don’t, then they should get it ready by December. The stipend for the internship also includes a daily allowance of 42 CAD for meeting the daily expenses and 800 CAD for housing costs.
How many lors are required for Mitacs?
Please note that only 1 letter of reference is required for your application to be considered complete. You are welcome to submit up to two. Mitacs Globalink My referring professor sumitted yesterday the letter of recommendation but it has not appeared that she already did so.
How was your Mitacs experience?
Then exactly two months after my interview, I got the offer from Mitacs. I was so ecstatic, I cannot describe it in words. Subsequent emails followed to complete all the formalities such as confirming internship dates, applying for VISA, booking flight tickets and accommodation etc. Everything happened smoothly.

Globalink Research Internship alumni interested in returning to Canada for graduate studies are eligible for the Globalink Graduate Fellowship.
