What fluid is used to flow test injectors?
The calibration fluid which is a Stoddard Solvent with the same viscosity and specify gravity of gasoline (without the flammability) is used to flow test and leak test the injectors. The other chemical is the water based (biodegradable) chemical used in the ultra-sonic tank for cleaning the injector!
How does a flow test check your injectors?
Ohm testing: A simple test to verify the condition of the injector coil, we test the resistance (measured in Ohms) across the terminals of the injector connector. Spray pattern verification: During the flow test, our techs evaluate the spray pattern of your injectors.
What is calibration fluid?
Calibration fluids are simulated fuels that have the physical properties designed specifically to replicate diesel fuel. Calibration fluids are specially designed and formulated to meet the tight specifications demanded when calibrating, flowing and flushing fuel pumps and injectors.
Can you ultrasonic clean injectors?
Carbon deposits and other contaminants that attach to fuel injectors are most safely removed by cavitation action in an ultrasonic cleaner. This cleaning action will not damage other injector components.
How fuel injectors can be cleaned if they fail a flow test?
The injectors are placed into an ultrasonic cleaning tank where they are electronically cycled on and off while being ultrasonically cleaned with special detergents. This cleaning step will be repeated a second time if the fuel injectors fail either the leakdown test or the flow test in the next step.
How much does injector testing cost?
Injector Examples & Pricing The cost for testing and cleaning injectors can range from as low as $15 up to $100 for each injector.
What are the signs of dirty fuel injectors?
Below are the most common symptoms of bad fuel injectors.
- Check Engine Light Illuminates Solid or Flashes. One of the engine issues that can cause the check engine light to come on or flash is a dirty or malfunctioning fuel injector.
- Rough Idling/Irritating Idle Noise.
- Engine Misfiring.
- Fuel Leaks.
How are E-TEC and Ficht injectors checked?
By using specialized electronic equipment specifically made for servicing E-Tec and Ficht injectors we can visually and electronically check for any discrepancies. We test resistance, spray patterns and dynamic flow. Injectors with a resistance below 2 Ohms cannot be repaired and will be rejected.
What causes E TEC injectors to fail?
Injector and fuel systems cleaners rarely does a good job of cleaning a contaminated fuel system. Ethanol is also a cause of E-Tec injectors to start to malfunction. Most problems with engines that use E-Tec or Ficth injectors are caused by fuel and ethanol contamination in some way or another.
How long do ETEC injectors last?
We have serviced Etec Injectors with over 5,000 hours on them and they flow perfect. Don’t think you will wear them out ! Q: Do you sell Injectors if I have one that is bad?
How to test the performance of an injector?
This testing procedure categorizes the individual injector and its performance using a series of coefficients. The coefficient file contains this date and has to be uploaded to the EMM for each individual injector . individual injector is then tagged with a 2D code (a Matrix Code) that contains the data about that injector’s coefficients.
